Pool Fun

this summer Finn has had this thing with pools. When we were in Kentucky we all went to the pool and he screamed bloody murder the entire time we were there. I decided that I needed to make some regular trips to the pool to get him used to it. I wanted to get him into swimming lessons this summer and don't want to waste money when he wouldn't even get in the water.

So anyway, we have been making weekly trips to Dimple Dell Rec Center's pool and it has been successful. It has been interesting since I am a whale in a lycra swimsuit and I have to hold Neelah and sometimes Finn but we do it anyway. After the whole bacteria in the water ordeal last summer, the kiddies in diapers are required to not only have a swim diaper on but plastic underwear overtop that. Seriously.

Then the other day at WalMart, I saw this blow up pool on sale for $15. What a deal. Although I still think it is good to take Finn to the big pool to get used to floating etc., WHO NEEDS PLASTIC UNDERWEAR WHEN YOU CAN SWIM NAKED IN YOUR OWN BACKYARD???!!!

CHRISTMAS MIRACLE!!

FYI: Finn is the kid in the lighter blue jersey with a blue ball cap on. He is #3.

CHRISTMAS MIRACLE!!

After 5 games where Finn refused to play soccer with the team, he finally played today. I was so proud of him! It was only 91 degrees outside and his cheeks were bright red afterwards (not from sunburn mind you). Today was a day of HUGE ACHIEVEMENT!!

Loving Moments

No this is not a pillow that the kids are laying on, it is our dog. Maile was being so cooperative with the kids this morning.

When Finn was Neelah's age, he used to play and cuddle with Maile all day long. He didn't have anyone else to play with. He used to love to play tug a war with her ropes and toys. Now Neelah has discovered what a fun thing it is to have a pet and Maile is starved for attention while Eric is gone so she will take all she can get. Even if it means being mauled and poked in the eyes.

Family Home Evening at Wheeler Farm

For FHE this week, we went with the Watson's to Wheeler Farm to have a picnic dinner and see the animals. Neelah didn't know what to think of this friendly horse but Finn finally petted him.

another video for eric

The tree at the beginning is a cherry tree and then over the patio is the apple tree but the pear tree is in the corner and you can't really see it. The back yard needs some love but it has great potential.

Contractor

Hey guys, I need to get a bid from a couple of different contractors on something for the new house. Anyone have any phone numbers of someone who has done good work?

So since Eric missed the cherished Primary program for Dad's today in church, I filmed it for him and here it is. I felt a little un-easy with my camera in Sacrament meeting but Eric needs to know what a big boy his son is and how much Finn loves him! When he was asked what he loved to do with his dad, he told his teacher in Primary that he loved to play trains with his dad. We miss you so much Eric!

Happy Fathers Day Part 2

Happy Fathers Day!

I have to take this opportunity to thank Eric for all he does for his family. He is an EXCELLENT father/ husband. I am so blessed to have him as my companion. You know how you hear stories from your grandmas about how your grandpas never changed a diaper/bathed the kids/prepared dinner etc? I would have gone MAD in that era and am blessed to have Eric. He wipes just as many butts as I do (well, when we are in the same country). He takes such an active part in his kids lives and chooses to take responsibility for their learning and growth! CHOOSES!

I am so proud of him for what he is doing in Iraq. I used to say that I was thankful that there were people in this world who would be willing to do such a thing because I wouldn't. I can believe in a cause up and down but for me to leave my family/life....uh, NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. And yet here I am married to a man who teaches me daily about sacrifice and loyalty. Whether or not this war is good, necessary or right is beside the point. We are in it as a country and Eric has taken it upon himself to VOLENTEER to "do his part". He feels that if he goes out there and is successful at his job then the other soldiers will be safe and able to return to their families. WOW. I am SO PROUD OF HIM!

He is an amazing man and I am absolutely grateful to have him as a husband and father to my children. I love you Honey!

Soccer

Look closely. Finn is in there somewhere. That is his blue jersey, blue socks and black shorts. He refused to play soccer. What am I going to do with this kid? He is so hesitant to do new things! I couldn't even bribe him with a new train!

Luckily, I was able to talk to him into playing at the next game. I will let you know how that goes. Something better change because I am going to be pretty bummed if I paid $30 for him to dress up as a soccer player but not really play.

I love Finn

Red Butte Gardens FHE

Tonight we had Family Home Evening at Red Butte Gardens up at the University of Utah. I had never been up there before except to the area where they hold wedding receptions. IT IS AMAZING!! Finn had a blast and Neelah wanted to touch every single growing thing. Here are Finn, Neelah and aunt Amanda riding the lizards. Finn assured everyone that they wouldn't move...just in case ANYONE ELSE was afraid!

Hanging out in the hut

WISTERIA!! How amazing they smell! I loved seeing this part of the garden. For Aunt April, this was the entire reason for coming.

Wouldn't it be so fun to sleep under this in the summer time?

Please notice my adorable, cuddly son and not the fat lady sitting next to him. Ulgh!
The above shot is of the cute snake spitting water fountian.

Aunt April is beating Finn through the water.

Then here they are entering the snake maze.

Grandma Sharlene was kind enough to take Neelah through even though she had to stoop the entire way through the snake.

Just what everyone needs in their yard, a birthday cake made of flowers! Thanks so much Watson's for making this Monday night so much fun. Eric, we wish you could have been here with us but there is always next spring! Love you!!
